Defining your goal on LinkedIn

Hey there! 👋

Excited to share the first chapter from our brand-new blog 🎉

The first chapter is about defining your role on LinkedIn and finding the right positioning (the stuff most people skip, but it changes everything).

Why are you on LinkedIn? Are you here to:

  • Share your product?

  • Teach something valuable?

  • Build your company brand?

  • Attract talent?

  • Raise funding?

  • Or just clarify your voice as a founder?

This chapter is here to help you figure that out. I’ve put together a set of questions to guide your reflection. And here’s my tip: don’t type - talk.

Open up ChatGPT, turn on voice input, and just answer out loud. The goal isn’t to get it perfect - it’s to get clear. Speak freely, no filters.

Let’s get into it.

1. Expert identity and positioning

  1. What’s your niche or profession and what exactly do you do?

(Go beyond job titles. Describe the core of your expertise in a way a 12-year-old would understand.)

  2. What is your main product or service?

(Describe its purpose, structure, duration, transformation, and ideal outcome.)

  3. What types of client problems do you solve?

2. Audience clarity

Who is your ideal client? Break it down in detail - their pains, desires, fears, goals, decision-making criteria. Cover these angles:

  • What’s frustrating them?

  • What are their unmet needs?

  • What are they actively looking for?

  • What matters most when choosing an expert?

  • What would stop them from buying?

  • What confuses or scares them?

  • What motivates them to take action?

  • What transformation are they really hoping for?)

3. Methodology

Do you have a signature method? What makes it different?

  1. What makes you different as a human not just as an expert?

(Think: personality, background, values, lived experience, perspective.)

  2. What 5 core values or beliefs shape how you work with clients?

(These become the backbone of your personal brand.)

  3. What kind of personal brand image are you building?

(Coach? Visionary? Strategic partner? Friend? What energy do you want to radiate?)

4. Vision and Narrative

  1. Have you gone through any major turning points in your career?

(Share the story. What happened, how you got through it, and what it taught you?)

  2. What tools, frameworks, strategies do you use most often with clients?

(Give a peek into your toolbox.)

  3. How did you become an expert and why did you create your offer in the first place?

(Origin story. Start with the moment that changed everything.)

  4. What are your current and future storylines?

(Short-term, mid-term, long-term. What arcs are you building?)

5. Brand

  1. What role do you want to play in your audience’s life?

    (Mentor, guide, challenger, mirror?)

  2. If your brand/blog had to be described in 2–3 words - what would they be?

  3. What are the “visual symbols” or lifestyle attributes of your brand?

    (Your environment, objects, mood, aesthetic.)

  4. Why does your field matter to people right now on a human level?

  5. Why does your specific product/service matter - for the people you serve?

Bonus prompt: Deep self-reflection through ChatGPT

After you’ve answered all the questions above, take one more step. Drop this final prompt into ChatGPT and get ready to be surprised.

I want to fully unlock myself - both as a person and as an expert.
Above are my answers to a set of expert discovery questions.
Based on everything you know about me, including the tone, patterns, and intentions in our previous interactions, please reflect back to me the deeper layers I may not yet be aware of.

Specifically, show me:

1. Things I don’t fully realize or recognize about myself.
2. Hidden strengths I’m underestimating and should amplify.
3. Weak spots or internal blockers that might be holding me back.
4. Core values I should consistently express in my personal brand to show up powerfully as both a human and a professional.

Please present the answer in a table with the following columns:

1. Hidden Insight About Me
2. Underused Strengths
3. Personal Bottlenecks
